Atlanta Hawks Tickets

The casual fan may not realize this, but the Atlanta Hawks were a very good team for a very long time not too long ago. They made the playoffs every year from 2008-2017. However, that could be said with a moot point as the farthest they ever got in the playoffs was the Eastern Conference Finals in 2015. After years of playoff appearances and nothing to show for them, the Hawks decided to let go of the past and rebuild which is what they have been doing the last couple of years. They have already begun to add some nice pieces such as shooting guard Kevin Huerter from Maryland who was their 2018 first-round draft choice.

Before the draft this year, the Hawks swung a very big and complicated trade with the Los Angeles Lakers that is really hard to explain. Also before the draft, the Hawks sent small forward Taurian Prince plus a 2021 second-round draft choice to the Nets for shooting guard Allen Crabbe and the Nets 2019 first-round draft choice, plus a 2020 lottery-protected first-round draft choice in what was considered a salary cap clearing move to make room for free agents Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Another trade with the Pelicans complicated even things even further. When the dust had settled, the Hawks ended up with the 4th and 10th selections overall, plus their first-round draft choice in 2020, plus the Nets first-round draft choice. Whew. So, with the 4th pick overall, the Hawks selected Virginia Tech small forward De’Andre Hunter, and with the 10th pick overall, the Hawks selected Duke freshman small forward Cam Reddish. These are definitely two big building blocks going forward for Atlanta. In free agency, the Hawks made two moves- adding former Milwaukee Bucks lottery pick Jabari Parker and one of the greatest players ever, Vince Carter, who is playing his last season in the NBA. These Hawks are young, talented, and on the rise. Vince Carter’s veteran experience may come in handy. They might make the playoff this season.
