The WCHA always has a great show for hockey fans across the upper-Midwest when the Final Five WCHA teams convene for a tournament showdown. For five straight years from 2001 to 2006, the WCHA has gone on to send their champion to the NCAA championship game and won. The prestige of the WCHA Final Five is unmatched throughout the country, making tickets for these games a hot buy even if your favorite team isn't involved in the proceedings.
Over the last three out of five years, the Minnesota Golden Gophers have been tournament champions of the WCHA Final Five, including from 2002-2004 and the 2006-07 season. Other recent champions of the tournament include North Dakota, Denver, and St. Cloud State when the Bulldogs did it in 2000-01. This popular hockey tournament often hosts its games at the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul, the hub of the hockey world in the United States.
