Located in the heart of the great state of Minnesota, Grand Casino Mille Lacs rests on the shores of Lake Mille Lacs, where visitors can fish, golf or ride snowmobiles while not inside the luxurious game floor. The casino is located right off of highway 169 about an hour and forty five minutes north of the cities at 777 Grand Avenue, Onamia, Minnesota.
Originally opened in 1991, Grand Casino Mille Lacs was the first of the two Grand Casinos to open. The opening of the casino fulfilled the dream of Mille Lacs Band's tribal government chairman Arthur Gahbow, who was elected in 1972 and died suddenly in office the year the casino opened. Marge Anderson succeeded Gahbow and helped to usher in an era of prosperity on the Mille Lacs reservation and the surrounding area, providing jobs and opportunities to many people.
Lake Mille Lacs is superb for classic Minnesota walleye fishing, and in the winter, ice-fishing is the name of the game. Grand Casino offers an adjacent 500 guest room and suite-hotel to stay at while enjoying the action. The hotel is directly connected to the hotel so visitors can simply walk on over. Restaurants at Grand Casino Mille Lacs include the Grand Buffet, the Grand Northern Grill and The Woodlands Steakhouse, which is considered widely as Minnesota's best casino restaurant.
In the casino, patrons can enjoy more than 1,500 video slots, dozens of blackjack tables and live bingo six out of seven days of the week. Grand Casino Mille Lacs also boasts a wide array of entertainment, as it hosts big-name acts from country to comedy to rock or R&B. The Grand Casino Mille Lacs Event Center provides more than adequate housing for acts like Merle Haggard, Rita Rudner and Wayne Newton. Many of these shows sell out quickly, so purchase your Grand Casino Mille Lacs tickets before all tickets are gone!
